It's not very often we see celebrities carry older Balenciaga aside from Nicole Richie's black City! Amber Lancaster was carrying a beautiful and vibrant 2005 Magenta First at the Blackberry Torch Launch Party just last month on August 10. It adds a pop of pink to her glittery ensemble which I love! I wish I jumped on the Balenciaga bandwagon a year earlier so I could have snapped up some Magenta babies! They just don't make them like this anymore, i.e. color saturation and leather quality. :(

Wow, you're right about the gorgeous color saturation and leather quality. It is disappointing that the prices keep going up, but the colors are less vibrant and they stopped including extra tassels and things like that. :(
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried Balenciaga key chains and wallets? Was wondering what you thought of the quality on using those on a daily basis (lots of wear and tear).
That magenta looks SO well loved, as how bbags should be :P 2005 bags are agneau, right? (I always get that mixed up with chevre).
ReplyDeleteHey LC! I agree, the prices keep going up, yet they have cut corners on the quality of bags. I think its more about quantity vs. quality now for them. I haven't tried the key chains (though I'd like to lol). As for wallets, I have used one of my Coin purses extensively and it shows wear like any of of the Balenciaga bags would.. dirt/rubbing around the corners, rubbing on buckles, wear on the leather, etc. I have a mini wallet from Bal that I bought brand new, can't seem to make myself use it as an everyday wallet. For wallets, I think the ones that hold up the best are Louis Vuitton since its made from canvas. I use my LV wallet as an everyday since it seems like it repels dirt/scratching well. lol. I hope this helps. Are you deciding on getting a Bal wallet?

ReplyDeleteI'm using an LV wallet too. It's the Koala (from back when Marc Jacobs used to design for LV). I didn't realize that the material was coated canvas (guess I thought it was coated leather or something!). But it sure does hold up well.
Hey LC!! It's my pleasure! Lol, I'm kind of familiar with LV, but not really anymore. I have a Koala too from the Azur line. The clasp is wonderful, makes a nice clinking sound when you open and close it.
